Doula Service & Fees

Choosing a doula
Prior to booking me as your doula, I prefer to meet you (and your partner) to become acquainted with you, discuss your wishes and concerns and to explore the ways in which I can support you (usually 1 – 1.5 hours). Our initial meeting does not obligate you in any way and there is no charge for this.

Additional and/or alternative visits can be arranged. I can also offer antenatal visits and post-natal birth debrief as a stand-alone for those not wishing to have doula support at their birth. Prices on enquiry.

If you choose me as your doula
I will visit with you 2 - 3 times during your pregnancy to familiarise myself with your wishes and plans for the labour, birth and postpartum, as well as offering information and education as required (approximately 2 – 2.5 hours per visit).

During these visits we can discuss a variety of topics including:
·         Your preferences for labour and birth
·         How you and your partner/support people wish to relate and work together
·         Your options regarding your Birth Preferences
·         Communication and negotiation strategies
·         Fears and/or concerns you have regarding labour, birth and the postnatal period
·         Options for coping with pain and fatigue
·         Any concerns or health issues related to the pregnancy/birth/postnatal period

Please note: I do not perform any clinical tasks, such as monitoring blood pressure or physical examinations. I will provide for your physical comfort and emotional support. I will not give you advice or make decisions for you, but I will endeavour to get unbiased information to you so that you can make your own, informed decisions.
I will be available to you on call 24/7 two weeks prior to your due date and until your baby is born. Once a booking is confirmed I am also available on the phone or by email/text before and after the birth should you wish to talk about anything related to the birth.

Unavailability
In the case of unforeseeable circumstances preventing me attending your birth, one of my doula colleagues may be available to substitute.

Labour & Birth
I will provide continuous emotional and physical support for your birth at your home and/or hospital and can also provide assistance with transferring to your birth place if required.

During your labour, birth and moments after, I am able to take photos and / or videos if you wish.

After the birth
Once your baby is born, I will stay with you until you are comfortable and ready for me to leave. This is usually approximately 2 hours post birth, however I am always flexible.

Post-natal Visits
I provide 2 post-natal visits (approximately 2-2.5 hours each) which includes a debrief of your birth and assistance with any general support you may need in the early postnatal period. This includes breastfeeding and parenting support, information on caring for a newborn, assistance with siblings and information on services in your area and support and referral information if necessary.
